    Copper Metallic alkorPLAN®, the latest innovation from RENOLIT, manufacturers of Europe’s most comprehensive range of single ply waterproofing membranes, features on the recently completed 1000 sq metres roof of the new £2.6 million Rosemount Clinic, a specialist accomodation unit in Macclesfield for adults with learning disabilities, which is under construction by Mansell, a Balfour Beatty Company, for the Cheshire and Wirral NHS Foundation Trust.
    Specified by award winning architects, Nightingale Associates of Liverpool for it’s unique colour, A+ environmental assessment ratings, it’s texture and durability, the alkorPLAN® Copper Metalic membrane gives a lifelong appearance of an unpatinised newly laid copper roof with matching standing seam profiles to add to a truly authentic look, all at a fraction of the cost of real copper. Architect, Ian Jones explains, “Structurally this roof was quite complex but we feel that this material has helped us to create a new building that complements the surroundings very well and with the lowest enviromental impact throughout it’s life span. Most importantly we and our clients are both delighted with the appearance, which has been finished to a very high standard.”
    Advanced Roofing of Ilkeston Derbyshire tendered for and were awarded the six week contract to install the roof back in May 2009, as chairman Gordon Harris points out, “We were very pleased to be the first RENOLIT approved contractor to complete a contract using this new material as it is identical in all other respects to the alkorPLAN® single-ply system that we have been successfully installing throughout the UK over the past (20? years). Other than poor weather, this project posed no real problems for our engineers as it was mechanically fastened with welded seams and because of products versatility it helped us maintain a highly competitive price whilst completing the fix well within the planned schedule. This with little or no disruption to the overall site which had to remain fully operational throughout. This roof is totally waterproof and highly energy efficient.”
    John Short, Chief Operating Officer for the Cheshire and Wirral NHS Foundation Trust said: “The new Rosemount Clinic will be a great development for eastern Cheshire and will enable the Trust to provide the highest quality of in-care for those people with learning disabilities.”
