ALKORSOLAR at Ballymote sports centre

Laydex are the sole distributors of ALKORPLAN PVC membrane in Ireland.  The flat roof on Ballymote Sports Centre in Downpatrick was not roofed with ALKOR but, following our introduction of the ALKORSOLAR bars to the architect, he opted to use them on this project. They consist of a PVC extrusion incorporating square hollow section of extruded aluminium. The PVC extrusions are hot air welded along the side laps of the PVC membrane and provide a secure fixing point for the supporting frames of the solar panels without having to penetrate the membrane.

ALKORPLAN PVC membranes were introduced to the building industry in Ireland in 1995. Many prestigious buildings in Ireland have been roofed with ALKORPLAN since then. The most recent Agrément Certificate states that the life expectancy of the membrane will be in excess 35 years, thus giving building owners and architects more confidence in the products when they have to decide which membrane to use on the roof(s) of their new building.
