Case study "When the cover is not waterproof on its own"
The problem
This egg-shaped building needed a waterproofing that functioned as both a roof and a façade. The Alucobond finish giving a futuristic design to this meeting room building in France.
The biggest problem for the architect was how to waterproof the Alucobond panels as they are used/installed both horizontally and vertically.
The solution
The roof was made watertight using RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing membrane mechanically fastened onto the supporting roof structure. To this membrane RENOLIT ALKORSOLAR profiles are welded with hot air. To cope with the curved roof shape the RENOLIT ALKORSOLAR profiles and inserts are cut and arranged over the curves. In this way the profiles follow the egg-shaped roofing structure and function as a base to attach the Alucobond panels.
