Case study "Waterproof details with plate material"
Océanopolis Brest (France)
Océanopolis Brest (France) opened a brand new space dedicated to temporary exhibitions and events. The building is intended to accommodate trade shows, conferences and seminars.
The problem
The architect wanted to have a close smooth surface finish of the Alucobond panels. As the Alucobond panels are not waterproof on their own and the roof had many difficult details and penetrations (ventilations) the architect encountered difficult design issues.
The solution
The roof was made watertight using RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing membrane mechanically fastened onto the supporting roof structure. To this membrane RENOLIT ALKORSOLAR profiles were hot air welded. The RENOLIT ALKORSOLAR system functions here as a base to attach the Alucobond panels.
All roof penetrations could easily be made waterproof using standard hard pvc pieces as the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN waterproofing can be heat welded directly to them to create the seal.
